Biography - C.H. Miller
Christopher Miller (C.H. Miller) is a composer who currently publishes some of his works under the name ElfHawk on both YouTube and Spotify. He began his professional music career in 2000, working as a composer for the punk rock focused label No Exit Records. During this time he also wrote music for films like Whatever Happened to Alice? and a choreographed musical of Alice in Wonderland.
In 2004, he was accepted into the Music Technology program at California Institute of the Arts. While at CaArts, he developed an interest in animation, and eventually transferred into their animation program, while continuing to study and work on music.
The next decade or so would see Christopher’s primary focus move away from music on a day-to-day basis, though the passion always remained. In 2007 he received an internship at Walt Disney Imagineering, in the theme parks division. He received a long-term position with them upon graduation, and went on to work in the Previsualization, Dimensional Design, and Animatronics departments over the course of the next five years.
In 2012, Christopher took a break from work to spend about a year recovering from a major back surgery.
In 2014 he began to focus on and pursue modeling assets and graphics for video games and other immersive environments. This led to work in designing visualization and models for proposed housing construction projects, and eventually to work with BCI, a structural engineer firm based in Minden, NV.
Due to COVID and the related lockdowns, BCI closed their offices in 2021, which led Christopher back home to WA, and eventually to move with his partner to OH, to be closer to his partner’s family.
Most recently, in 2021, Christopher re-entered the world of music composition after approximately a 10 year hiatus. His current focus has been on symphonic orchestration with various percussion ensemble formats, including Taiko, Dohl, various percussion from Africa, and some electronic percussion as well, with an emphasis on polyrhythms and syncopation. He has been publishing some of his works online under the name ElfHawk on both YouTube and Spotify, and seeking to arrange live performances of others.
